About the work:
“Venus” is a modern sculpture made of shining, metallic material, set on a dark, contrasting base. Its organic form refers to the female silhouette – full, rounded, yet reduced to a synthetic, almost abstract mass. The sculpture’s surface reflects light, giving it a living, pulsating energy. The minimalist character contrasts with the expression of shapes, making the work balance between figuration and abstraction.
Creative process:
Creating the “Venus” sculpture was based on reducing form to the most essential shapes. The process began with sketches inspired by classical representations of femininity, then moved to work with clay or wax models to capture the rhythm of the silhouette. After establishing the final shape, a metal cast was made, whose surface was carefully polished to achieve a mirror reflection effect. This stage was particularly time-consuming and required precision, as it is precisely the shine that brings out the dynamics and plasticity of the work.
Inspirations:
The inspiration for creating “Venus” came from archetypal representations of women in art – from Paleolithic Venus figures to modern reinterpretations of the female silhouette. The sculpture refers to the universal symbol of fertility, strength and beauty, while stripping the form of literalness. Geometrization and abstraction are intended to show that femininity is not only the body, but also energy, presence and emotion. The reflective surface makes the viewer become part of the work – their own image merges with the shape of “Venus”, creating an intimate dialogue between the sculpture and the observer.
