About the work:

“Reflection” is a sculpture made of metal with a raw, silvery surface, mounted on a dark base. Its organic form resembles a crouched figure, immersed in a gesture of contemplation or protection. The reduced, simplified shapes leave room for interpretation – the sculpture balances on the border between figuration and abstraction. The material from which it was created emphasizes weight and permanence, while at the same time, thanks to its glossy surface, it seems almost alive, pulsating with light and shadow.

Creative process:

Creating “Reflection” began with searching for a form that could capture the state of inner concentration. The first sketches depicted the silhouette of a person immersed in introspection. Then a model was created in which unnecessary details were gradually eliminated to give the work a more universal character. The metal cast preserved this vision, and the hand finishing of the surface – with visible traces of work and texture – gave the sculpture authenticity and expressiveness.

Inspirations:

The inspiration for creating “Reflection” came from moments of pause and self-discovery, in which a person confronts their own interior. The work draws from the tradition of depicting the human figure in art, but instead of idealization, it focuses on emotional and psychological state. The titular “reflection” refers not only to the mirror image, but to the process of introspection – meeting with one’s own thoughts, emotions and experiences. The sculpture thus becomes a metaphor for inner dialogue and a universal symbol of humanity.
