About the work:
The sculpture “Achilles” is crafted in a light, stone-like material, set on a wooden base. Its organic, simplified shape evokes the human body – muscular yet stripped of literal detail. The piece oscillates between figuration and abstraction, suggesting a bent figure, burdened by destiny.
Creative process:
The creation of “Achilles” began with sketches inspired by classical depictions of mythological heroes. Gradual reduction of detail allowed the essence to emerge – not the body itself, but the energy and tension of the myth. The sculpting process emphasized soft, fluid transitions that contrast with the solidity of the form.
Inspirations:
The inspiration lies in the figure of Achilles – the archetype of the warrior, a symbol of courage, yet inevitably fragile. The sculpture reflects the paradox of strength and weakness: even the greatest hero has his “Achilles’ heel.” It is a reflection on the human condition – powerful yet vulnerable.
